Physical/Occupational Therapy

Mission:

The Rehabilitation Services Department provides the highest quality standard of
physical and occupational therapy. Optimum patient care will be given in a cost-
effective environment. The RSD is an integral part of Jefferson Hospital, working in
close relationship with its staff for the most comprehensive and effective patient care.
We have a licensed physical therapist and occupational therapist that provide inpatient
and outpatient services. Inpatient coverage is provided on a daily basis based on the
patient's plan of care, while outpatients require pre-scheduled appointments. All
evaluations require a current physician referral and all Medicaid referrals require
pre-authorization. The RSD is affiliated with the Jefferson County Board of Education
to provide rehabilitation of dysfunctions or delays that impede the learning process or
school-related activities.

Hours of Operation:

Outpatient Services are available at the Rehab Clinic M-F 7:30-4:30

Services are provided to hospital inpatients covered under Medicare Part A and most
private insurances

-acute and sub-acute patients
-swing bed placement and therapy

Physical and Occupational Therapy

Therapists specialize in evaluation and treatment of physical dysfunction, delays in
development, and their effect on daily life. Therapists work closely with physicians
and other care providers to ensure that each patient receives individualized care to
restore function, manage pain, or adapt to a disability. Staff, patient, and family
education is of utmost importance to maximize independence and safety or minimize
pain.

  • Balance Disorders Mobility - including Crutch/Walker/Transfer/Wheelchair training
  • Wound Care and amputation management
  • Activities of Daily Living Retraining - including bathing, dressing, home-making and
    work-related activities
  • Back/neck pain
  • Post-operative rehab
  • Traction Hybresis
  • Stroke rehab
  • Spinal cord injuries
  • Arthritis
  • General reconditioning
  • Children with birth trauma, developmental delay, or neuromuscular disabilities
  • Staff and community education

Where do I Register?

Please bring your referral for therapy, current insurance card, picture identification,
and a list of medications to the Registration Desk located in the Emergency
Department Waiting Area.

Where do I park?

Patients may park in the emergency department parking located in the rear of the
hospital for their initial appointment. Parking is also available in the main parking lot
located in the front of the hospital. Wheelchairs are available at both entrances.
